So the nine months are finally over and you are delighted with your lovely baby but now you are wondering how to lose baby belly fat. The sad fact is that our muscles expand over the time that baby is growing and often don’t just return to pre-baby tightness overnight.
The best way to lose baby belly fat is by breastfeeding your baby. If you decide to do this, then you should throw out the diet books and concentrate on eating healthy until your baby is weaned. You both need all the nutrients, vitamins and minerals you can get and this is not a time for counting calories. Obviously you don’t want to eat lots of candy and cake either, as all that sugar is not good for either you or baby. How much will depend on how much excess weight you put on while you were pregnant. If you followed a sensible eating plan while pregnant, continue with that plan now and give yourself time to lose the pounds. Assuming you have had a natural delivery, you should start taking regular exercise which will assist in tightening up those muscles and also help you to slim down. Regular exercise using a combination of weight training and aerobic activities will help you to get back into shape. Increasing the quantity of fruit and vegetables in your diet and cutting down on empty calories such as those contained in fizzy drinks and alcohol will also help. Cook all your meals from scratch and opt for the low fat alternatives where possible. For example instead of frying, you should roast, grill or bake your meat. If you eat out, only ever have two courses and instead of desert try having a frozen yogurt or sorbet instead. If you want to have some snacks then make your own popcorn at home rather than eating chips.
